Idris Elba too “Street” to Play James Bond?

Idris Elba- he’s suave, sexy, and charismatic, and British.  The ideal James Bond candidate right?  

Well according to author Anthony Horowitz, not so much.  In fact, Horowitz feels that Adrian Lester would be a more fitting alternative.
During an interview with Daily Mail,  the accredited James Bond novelist shares that he feels as if Elba is bit too much on the “street”  side for the role of Bond in ‘007.

“Idris Elba is a terrific actor, but I can think of other black actors who would do it better,” said Horowitz.

“For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond. Is it a question of being suave? Yeah.”
